The Municipality is proposing to amend the Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw to permit mobile food vendors and vendors in commercial and industrial zones and to permit public markets in commercial zones.
A mobile food vendor and vendor is permitted in the following zones: Urban Commercial (UC), Rural Commercial (RC), Recreational/Resort Commercial (RRC), Urban Industrial (UI), and Rural Industrial (RI).
A food market and flea market are currently permitted in the Urban Commercial (UC) and Rural Commercial (RC). A definition for public market, which includes both a food market and flea market. A public market will be added as a permitted use in the Urban Commercial (UC) and Rural Commercial (RC) Zones.
This was initiated by and is a result of the approval of the Municipality's Business Licensing Bylaw. The Business Licensing Bylaw requires mobile food vendors, vendors and public markets obtain appropriate approvals and a license to operate.
