South Baptiste Lake Road - 2024 Capital Project
Hastings Highlands Council and Staff are pleased to announce the South Baptiste Lake Road Capital Project 2024, which will run from April 1st to August 31st, 2024. The project will upgrade the stretch of South Baptiste Lake Road from “Y” Road to Clarke Road, including roadside brushing, culvert replacement, and resurfacing.
After the 2024 Capital Budget was approved by Council, Tender HH-2024-01 Hot Mix Pavement was prepared and released for public bidding on February 9, 2024. The tender, accessed by eighteen companies, was developed in accordance with the approved 2024 Capital Budget and the 5-year Roads Needs Capital Plan.
The project includes approximately 13.4 kilometers of South Baptiste Lake Road, from Clarke Lake Rd to Y Rd, and resurfacing the Station 1 parking lot and adjacent lane. The total budget for all identified road construction projects within the approved 2024 Capital Budget is $1,818,000. J&P Leveque Bros. Haulage Limited submitted the lowest bid of $1,525,472.43, inclusive of all taxes and rebates. This expenditure is within the 2024 Capital Budget and will be funded from various sources, including reserves, municipal taxation, CCBF/Gas Tax Funding, and OCIF Formula Allocation Funding.
