PUBLIC NOTICE – FIRE BAN IN EFFECT

Hastings Highlands, ON – August 06, 2025

The Municipality of Hastings Highlands has implemented a TOTAL FIRE BAN that prohibits all open fires effective immediately.

Due to dry conditions, high heat, and lack of forecasted precipitation the Chief Fire Official of Hastings Highlands has implemented a TOTAL FIRE BAN for all of Hastings Highlands.

This total fire ban applies to all land within the Municipality of Hastings Highlands, including:

  • All cottages, private and commercial.
  • All interior/backcountry camping – lake access, canoe tripping and backpacking.
  • All trails

During a fire ban:

  • Campfires are not permitted at any time.
  • Charcoal barbeques or biomass units using natural burning fuels (i.e. sticks, twigs, pinecones, etc.) are not permitted.
  • Candles of any type are not permitted.
  • Fireworks of all types are not permitted.
  • Portable outdoor living gas or propane fire pits or fire bowls manufactured for the intended purpose of outdoor ambience and recreational enjoyment that produce a flame are not permitted; and
  • Portable gas/propane/naphtha stoves or barbeques that have a fuel source with a control valve may still be used. Anyone using an outside wood fired boiler as a source of heat for their dwelling unit and/or hot water are required to have a chimney cap in place with no larger than ¼” mesh in place and burn with small fires and extreme caution at this time. R-2025-056: Rezone Municipal Community Facilities to Community Facility Zone (CF)

August 19, 2025

To rezone the below listed properties to Community Facility Zone (CF) ensuring the land use is consistent with the Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw regulations. All Environmental Protection zones (EP) will remain the same.

Location of properties: 

 

1. Purdy Cemetery, 37643 Highway 62, Part of Lots 19 and 20, Concession 6; Parts 1, 2, and 3, 21R26936; in the Geographic Township of Bangor.

 

2. St. Paul’s Cemetery, 25 Boulter Lake Road, being Part of Lot 11 Concession 10, Part 1 on 21R27000 in the Geographic Township of McClure.

3. Maynooth Rink, 104 Young Street, being Part on Lot 80, Concession East Hastings Road; Part 1 on reference Plan 21 R1440, in the Geographic Township of Monteagle.

 

4. Bird’s Creek Park, 160 South Baptiste Lake Road, being Part of Lots 1 and 2, Concession 3; Parts 2 and 3 on 21R3646; in the Geographic Township of Herschel.

A Public Meeting will be held at the Council meeting on September 24, 2025, where Council will make a decision on the Application.
