PUBLIC NOTICE – TOTAL FIRE BAN LIFTED
NIGHT BURNING PERMITTED

 

Effective 9:00 a.m. August 29, 2025, the Municipality of Hastings Highlands will lift the fire ban due to significant rainfalls and improvement in air quality. 

If dry conditions become a concern in the future, another Fire Ban may be required. Open air burning, including small campfires, is now permitted, but residents are reminded to be extra cautious as surrounding grasses and dry branches can easily ignite.

The Municipality of Hastings Highlands reminds residents that all burning regulations still apply. The burning regulations are as follows:

·       The fire is ignited at 7:00 p.m. or later and is extinguished at 7:00 a.m. or earlier during the period from April 1st to October 31st;

·       Small campfires no larger then 2 feet by 2 feet for cooking and warmth are permitted.

·       The fire is at least 5 meters from any combustible materials.

·       A responsible person capable of extinguishing the fire has adequate tools, water and human resources to contain the fire; and

At this time, The Municipality reminds residents that due to conditions the burning of large brush fires, yard waste is prohibited until further notice.

NEW CARLOW ROAD

INTERMITTENT CLOSURES FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENTS

 

PLEASE BE ADVISED:

 

Intermittent road closures will take place on New Carlow Road for culvert replacement work on Wed, September 3, 2025 from 8am to 4pm (Open after 4pm), and Thurs, September 4, 2025 from 8am to 3pm (Open after 3pm).

 

Expect brief delays during work hours.

 

The closures will be between 911# 1111 and approximately 250m northeast of 911# 899.

Travelers will be able to detour via East Road Loop & Musclow-Greenview Road, and Boulter Road.

 

Please use caution when driving during the scheduled work period. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation.
