Municipality Receives Government of Canada Funding to Enhance and Grow Seasonal Events and Markets in Hastings Highlands
Maynooth, ON – The Municipality of Hastings Highlands is excited to announce that it has enhanced and rejuvenated seasonal events and markets in Hastings Highlands, with support from the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).
With an investment of $75,000, announced in August 2024, this project has supported Hastings Highlands in hiring an Events Coordinator staff member to enhance existing seasonal events and develop new events and markets. The Municipality has already hosted a Family Day event in February and an Easter Egg-stravaganza over Easter Weekend. There are plans to host a Harvest Festival during Labour Day Weekend, a Makers Fair in the fall, and ensure the continuation of the Brighten the Night Christmas Parade in December.
Additionally, the Municipality intends to partner with the Maynooth Morning Market organizers to host smaller themed markets throughout the summer months. More details regarding the approved roster of events can be found here. Further details will be shared on the Municipality’s website and social media pages.
This investment will help Hastings Highlands attract new visitors, drive economic growth, and attract tourism within our community.
“Council is thrilled at the project approval and is excited to announce the funding being provided by the Tourism Growth Program,” said Mayor Tony Fitzgerald. “The Municipality of Hastings Highlands is proud to receive support from the Government of Canada and we are grateful for the support and investment into tourism in our community.”
