PUBLIC NOTICE – TOTAL FIRE BAN LIFTED
NIGHT BURNING PERMITTED
Effective 9:00 a.m. August 29, 2025, the Municipality of Hastings Highlands will lift the fire ban due to significant rainfalls and improvement in air quality.
If dry conditions become a concern in the future, another Fire Ban may be required. Open air burning, including small campfires, is now permitted, but residents are reminded to be extra cautious as surrounding grasses and dry branches can easily ignite.
The Municipality of Hastings Highlands reminds residents that all burning regulations still apply. The burning regulations are as follows:
· The fire is ignited at 7:00 p.m. or later and is extinguished at 7:00 a.m. or earlier during the period from April 1st to October 31st;
· Small campfires no larger then 2 feet by 2 feet for cooking and warmth are permitted.
· The fire is at least 5 meters from any combustible materials.
· A responsible person capable of extinguishing the fire has adequate tools, water and human resources to contain the fire; and
At this time, The Municipality reminds residents that due to conditions the burning of large brush fires, yard waste is prohibited until further notice.

PLEASE BE ADVISED: The Road closures scheduled to take place on Hillsview Rd, Cross Country Rd, and Herschel River Rd for culvert replacement work from Wed, Sept 10th to Thurs, Sept 11th are all fully complete. There will be no road closures on Sept 11 2025 and all affected roads will be open for traffic.
