PUBLIC NOTICE – TOTAL FIRE BAN LIFTED
NIGHT BURNING PERMITTED

 

Effective 9:00 a.m. August 29, 2025, the Municipality of Hastings Highlands will lift the fire ban due to significant rainfalls and improvement in air quality. 

If dry conditions become a concern in the future, another Fire Ban may be required. Open air burning, including small campfires, is now permitted, but residents are reminded to be extra cautious as surrounding grasses and dry branches can easily ignite.

The Municipality of Hastings Highlands reminds residents that all burning regulations still apply. The burning regulations are as follows:

·       The fire is ignited at 7:00 p.m. or later and is extinguished at 7:00 a.m. or earlier during the period from April 1st to October 31st;

·       Small campfires no larger then 2 feet by 2 feet for cooking and warmth are permitted.

·       The fire is at least 5 meters from any combustible materials.

·       A responsible person capable of extinguishing the fire has adequate tools, water and human resources to contain the fire; and

At this time, The Municipality reminds residents that due to conditions the burning of large brush fires, yard waste is prohibited until further notice.

Hillsview, Cross Country, Herschel River Rds Culvert Replacements - Sep 10-11 2025

PUBLIC NOTICE: MULTIPLE SHORT-TERM ROAD CLOSURES FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENTS

 

PLEASE BE ADVISED: Road closures will take place on Hillsview Rd (1), Cross Country Rd (2), and Herschel River Rd (3) for culvert replacement work, starting Wed, Sept 10th to Thurs, Sept 11th. There will be no through traffic during the closures.

 

(1) The closure on Hillsview Rd will be between Moxam Rd and #376 Hillsview Rd. Travelers will be able to access Hillsview Rd from Musclow-Greenview Rd, Moxam Rd and McAlpine Rd.

 

(2) The closure on Cross Country Rd will be between #1207 and #1654, approx. 1.3kms North of Hybla Rd. Travelers will be able to access Cross Country Rd from Graphite Rd and Hybla Rd.

 

(3) The closure on Herschel River Rd will be between #187 and #190 Herschel River Rd. There will be no detour available for the closure at Herschel River Rd, and crews expect the closure will be resolved quickly.

 

Crews will be completing the culvert replacements around busing schedules during the morning and afternoon routes to reduce travel disruptions. Please use caution when driving during the scheduled work period. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation.
