Discover how to stay one step ahead of fraud at our upcoming crime prevention session, led by Detective Constable Neal Read from Anti-Rackets Branch and the Economic Crime and Corruption Unit with the OPP as well as Trevor B. Pitts, A/Staff Sergeant – Interim Detachment Commander of Bancroft OPP. This informative event will shine a light on the most common and emerging frauds targeting Ontarians today. Guest: Detective Neal Read is a Constable with the Ontario Provincial Police, bringing 19 years of diverse policing experience. With a specialization in complex fraud investigations including romance scams, cybercrime and cryptocurrency related offences, he is committed to a victim-centered investigative approach.
Neal currently serves with the OPP Anti-Rackets Branch, Economic Crime and Corruption Unit as a Cyber Fraud Investigator. In this role, he investigates sophisticated fraud schemes, identifies offenders and supports prosecutions. He is frequently consulted for his expertise in cryptocurrency related investigations.
Dedicated to continuous learning, Neal advocates for enhanced police training to address emerging cyber and crypto-enabled crimes. He is a Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI) and Certified Cyber Crimes Investigator through the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators. Neal is also Certified Bitcoin Professional (CBP) and has also completed Chainalysis training including Reactor, Ethereum Investigation and Investigation Specialist Certification relating to cryptocurrency.

The location: Hastings Highlands Centre/Emond Hall, in Maynooth, Ontario at 33011 Highway #62N. Maynooth, Ontario – 15 minutes North of Bancroft ON. This is the large Gym room in the Municipal Building.
