HASTINGS HIGHLANDS PUBLIC LIBRARY GET RE-ACCREDITATIONHASTINGS HIGHLANDS PUBLIC LIBRARY GET RE-ACCREDITATION
Hastings Highlands Public Library Staff Miranda Mitchell, Board Trustee Christine Hass, Library CEO Kimberly McMunn and Board Trustee Mayor Vivian Bloom share their certificate of Re-Accreditation received at the Ontario Library Super Conference Awards on January 28, 2016.
Our library was first accredited in 2010. The re-accreditation review is done every five years through the Ontario Public Library Guidelines Monitoring and Accreditation Council. The library goes through a thorough review (now version 6) that covers Governance and Administration, Accessibility, Resources, Services, Cooperation & Partnerships and Use of Technology. Two auditors evaluate everything about the library including facility, staffing, service and administration. Thanks to our Staff, Library CEO and our Board for the hard work to get this done. Our library passed with 98.7%.
Note: There are 36 libraries (systems) in southern Ontario who are accredited – out of 189 libraries in southern Ontario. There are a further 7 in northern Ontario out of 142 libraries in northern Ontario. (Note: If a library has branches – all of the facilities must meet the requirements.)
