Telephone and Internet Voting
In April 2017, Hastings Highlands Council approved the use of internet and telephone voting for the 2018 Municipal Election. (There will be no paper ballot that you will mail to the Municipality).
Hastings Highlands voters will cast their vote online or by telephone from anywhere they have an internet or telephone connection. Voters will have an opportunity to participate in a more environmentally-friendly, accessible and convenient method of voting.
The Municipality of Hastings Highlands will be participating in the remote Telephone and Internet Voting with a Voter Help Centre format. Remote Telephone and Internet Voting enables eligible persons to cast their vote online from a touch tone telephone or any device (computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone) that has internet access from any location. Voters will be sent a letter in the mail in October 2018 with a security PIN and login information. This method is convenient for residents who are out of town (seasonal residents, school, vacation, etc.) and is most accessible for voters who require assistance enabling them to vote independently from home. There will be a Voter Help Centre at the Municipal Office that is equipped with a computer or tablet for voters to cast their vote. Election staff will still be present to guide voters through the process however, this method requires them to attend the Municipal Office in Maynooth during office hours.
Beginning Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. voters will be able to vote for 24 hours a day up to and including Monday, October 22, 2018 until 8:00 p.m. from any telephone or any device connected to the internet.

A Voter Information Letter will be mailed directly to electors in the beginning of October, providing a voter with a website address/telephone number(s) and a secure PIN which will allow individuals to vote 24 hours a day beginning Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. until Monday, October 22, 2018 up until 8:00 p.m. from any telephone or any device connected to the internet.
Should you receive more than one Voter Information Letter in the mail please note it is against the law to vote more than once in a municipality (Municipal Elections Act, s.51.2). Please contact the Municipality to have one of the Voter Information Letter PIN's deactivated. 613 338-2811 ext. 277
